Waterloo Chess Academy presents Chess Bootcamp, offering a hands-on experience this winter to teach students the fundamentals of chess through engaging lessons with a professional chess coach!

This program is open to students from all schools in the Waterloo region, providing an opportunity to develop chess skills and critical thinking in a fun, interactive environment.

In this program, students (ages 6 to 16) will:

• Discover the golden moves of chess

• Understand essential tactical motifs

• Dive into basic openings

• Write chess moves and read chess books

• Use a chess clock

• Participate in your first tournament

By the end of this Chess 101 experience, you'll be ready to play with confidence.

Why is chess important for kids?

Chess is not just a game; it's a powerful educational tool. Learning chess helps kids:
